Improving the skills of educators is essential for the effective education of our children. Creating a healthy and productive environment for the training and development of educators is a priority for the The Early Education Centre (TEEC). We aim to provide those in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector with the opportunity to upskill, which will help improve student learning and turn teachers into better educators.
Who can enroll?
There are many great things about being a teacher, like making a positive impact in children’s lives. The TEEC teacher support and training programme is aimed at skilled and unskilled ECD educators, as well as, young individuals wanting to pursue a career in education, with the intention of self-development.
Our Approach
Great teachers are the foundation for great students. Inspired and informed teachers influence student achievement. The objectives of the training and development programme include the increase of educator knowledge and abilities as well as a deeper understanding of the elements in their field. We believe that teachers should learn the importance of an organized and invigorating daily programme, especially for disadvantaged children.
The programme adheres to the Children’s Act 38 2005, NELDS, NCS, NCF and other regulations. Our facility is registered with the Provincial Department of Social Development, who aims to provide social protection and to help the poor and vulnerable stabilize a better future for themselves. This allows institutions to conduct background checks on all teachers to ensure they are eligible to work with children, and ensure their capabilities as ECD educators. The Provincial Department of Social Development also insists that there is a healthy and safe environment for children to interact in.
Teachers and the Community
TEEC challenges the entire community to involve themselves in the education of their children. School administrators, families, and community members should foster an environment that is conducive to the holistic development of their children. We also monitor the development of babies, toddlers, and young children. Lastly, understand that each child has different cultural backgrounds, and ensure that programmes are sensitive to each individual, including those with special needs.
Effective Teaching Habits
Teaching support from TEEC will help educators to enhance their instructional capabilities and teaching style. When teaching, there are some characteristics that one can adopt in order to become a more effective educator. It is important to keep the interests and abilities of your learners in mind when planning out your lessons. However, the teacher’s interests are just as important. For effective learning, focusing on creating a positive environment for and relationships with learners is vital. Having a passion for your work will inspire your learners to be enthusiastic about what they are learning as well.
The development of educators is vital for the future success and wellbeing of their learners. Regular training and support can help teachers hone the necessary skills to become effective educators. Those individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in early childhood development can enroll at TEEC. After completing the training, you will receive a national certificate in Early Childhood Development Level 4.
