Dr Freda Kim who is from South Korea is the founder of World Play Day. This day is celebrated on the 28 May and is celebrated in 40 countries (includinig us. S.A) and is recognized on the UNICEF South African calendar of events.
The theme for this special day is “sustainable play”
WHY PLAY?
Play allows children to use their creativity, while developing their imagination, physically, emotionally and cognitively.
Play is important for healthy brain development and through play we interact with the world around us.
The Early Education Centre believes that all children learn through play and as parents we should encourage children to be outside with supervision rather than with an electronic device or watching television because these devices kills off our brain cells, cutting us off from important issues.
STOP AND THINK FOR A MOMENT
When you or child watches television do you or your child respond when speaks to you?
What happens when you forget your cell phone or take it from your child?
How often do we have face to face conversations with people?
The Early Education Centre will celebrate World Play Day on Friday 26 May 2017 at Pieter Langeveld Primary School in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch from 1 – 2 pm
